SCRIBENT People in the know. People in the now.
We are for the most part aware that the Internet is basically millions of networks of computing devices which are interconnected via myriad protocols. It is easy to forget however that the Internet is also you, I and everyone else. Today, we all our everyday lives with aspects of those lives (think family life; entertainment; friendship; employment; relationships; health; education) in some way or another, “integrated” with these networks.
A major problem confronting individuals, companies, organisations and governments is determining how and in what ways we are integrated? Indeed, how should we think about this integration? What are its implications?
This is where SCRIBENT can help.
Scribent, which began trading in 2019, is envisaged as innovative start up providing academic and researched based, tailored services focused on the problem of integrating Internet technologies with the ways in which people’s lives are culturally enabled and constrained. This can take the form of one on one tuition with individuals through to forms of consultancy such as evaluations for companies and institutions.
That’s right!
The key principle here is that the ways in which aspects of our lives are culturally enabled and constrained play a key role in the nature of the integration of the Internet with our daily lives.
It is therefore necessary to have understanding of nature of the integration of lives lived culturally and the Internet.
My name is Brett Dwyer and I run SCRIBENT. I am a trained anthropologist having graduated from the University of Melbourne and the Northern Territory University (now called Charles Darwin University). I chose the tagline: “People in the know – People in the now” for SCRIBENT to emphasise our commitment to transparency, ethical practices and the contemporary moment.
